Mad Worlds is a study in close up of the chaotic serendipity of paint and ink, photographed whilst wet and still settling, when it’s at its most alive and full of behaviour, cajoled and not entirely controlled by me.
One of the interesting elements for me as a photographer, and certainly not a painter, was that the final result is a photograph. There is no original artwork, the work evolves over several hours, details are photographed at various stages of its evolution, and then the original materials are disposed of. Each photographic image is an artwork in itself, capturing an emotion or atmosphere that resonates with me.
It is a purely experimental process, always surprising, and allows for complete artistic freedom with no preconceptions or confining expectations of personal style. This project is all about liberation from those things.
